Katharina Weiler, Nutan Sharma, and Raju Roka were each awarded a Mary S. Slusser Scholarship for work related to Nepalese architectural history and preservation practice.
Ms. Weiler is a doctoral candidate in art history at Ruprecht Karls University, Heidelberg and is researching the interplay of neo-classical and indigenous idioms in the architecture of the the Newars. She will spend the fall semester in Kathmandu.
Mr. Sharma, a Nepalese doctoral candidate and local historian, has supported historical research conducted by the Trust and by such prominent scholars as Niels Gutschow, Axel Michels, and Mary Slusser. He will continue his invaluable |

work on translating classical Sanskrit and Newari inscriptions for preservation projects in the Kathmandu Valley.
Raju Roka, KVPT’s Nepal headquarters manager, traveled to London and the U.S. where he contributed to Trust fundraisers and visited numerous historic preservation projects. In New York he participated in professional development training at the Trust’s US headquarters.
