Temple in Patan Darbar World Heritage Site
focus of annual local fundraiser
Funds and awareness raised for preservation in Patan
April 2, 2006 - In order to raise seed money for the restoration of the diminutive 17th century Lakshmi Narayan Temple located in the Patan Darbar World Heritage Site, KVPT Director of Development Gautam S.J.B. Rana hosted the annual local Trust fundraising event at Baber Mahal Revisited. The event, billed “Nepali Women in Concert for KVPT,” was attended by 230 supporters and raised NRs 304,560 (US $4,200).

Work at the temple will include the restoration of its original two-tiered roof
configuration. The temple will join a number of important contributing structures in the Patan Darbar World Heritage Site that have been restored by the Trust.

On September 10, 2006 Mr. Rana also hosted at Baber Mahal Revisited a dance performance and dinner to introduce both the Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust and Portage Programme Nepal (an early intervention program for children with disabilities and developmental delays) to the new heads of embassies in Nepal and to international non-governmental agencies.
KVPT Director Pratima Pande introduced the Trust to attendees while chief guest of honor His excellency Eduardo Lechuga, European Union Ambassador to Nepal, highlighted our important work.

The evening’s performance featured classical dancer Diya Sen who performed the Orissi Dance.
